Pune: Palm Springs Society Residents in Wakad Struggle with Flooding and Damaged Roads, Appeal to PCMC for Urgent Action

Pune, May 29, 2025: Over 500 residents of Palm Springs Society, located in Vinode Nagar, Wakad, are grappling with severe civic challenges due to persistent waterlogging and deteriorating road conditions caused by recent heavy rainfall. The situation has become increasingly dangerous and inconvenient, prompting residents to formally appeal to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for swift intervention.
Since May 24, 2025, the area outside the main gate of the Palm Springs Society has been heavily flooded, with water levels rising to 2-4 feet. The absence of a proper stormwater or drainage system has led to fast-flowing water from nearby farms accumulating along the society’s boundary, posing serious risks to both pedestrians and vehicle users. Two-wheelers are particularly affected, with multiple commuters facing hazardous conditions daily. Large potholes have also formed on the adjacent road, further increasing the risk of accidents and injuries.
With the monsoon season underway, residents fear that the issue will only worsen in the coming weeks. “This is a recurring problem every monsoon, but this year the impact is far more severe. We now have over 500 residents living in 211 flats, and basic infrastructure like a stormwater line is still missing,” said a member of the Palm Springs Society Managing Committee.

In a proactive move, the society’s managing committee has formally submitted a written request to the PCMC Commissioner, highlighting the urgent need for drainage infrastructure. The letter, addressed to the Municipal Commissioner, outlines the problem in detail and requests a site inspection followed by immediate corrective measures.
The society has also reached out to PuneNow to share their concerns with the wider community, hoping that civic authorities will take swift action as they have done in similar past situations.
The residents are confident that their problem will be resolved with utmost urgency and concern. They have requested the municipal authorities to prioritize this matter to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents in Vinode Nagar.
