Pune: Ola, Uber & Rapido Cabs to Implement Govt-Approved Fare Rates from May 1

Pune News: Ola, Uber, and Rapido cabs in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and Baramati will charge fares as per state government-approved rates starting May 1, similar to autorickshaws.
The decision was confirmed by the Indian Gig Workers Front, with president Keshav Kshirsagar stating that the new fare structure will be ₹37 for the first 1.5 km and ₹25 per km thereafter.
A 10 km ride will now cost at least ₹249.50, compared to the current average of ₹175 (non-surge pricing). To ensure transparency, the Indian Gig Workers Front is launching www.onlymeter.in, a website where commuters can verify fares by entering the trip distance post-ride.
Its QR code would be displayed in all the cabs with a short description. Whenever a person books an Ola or Uber cab, the application shows the distance from the pickup point to the destination. After a ride ends from May 1 onwards, a commuter would have to log on to the website and key in the distance travelled. The approved fare, which has to be paid, will reflect on it immediately.”
An awareness campaign will be conducted to familiarize passengers with the new system. Over 45,000 cabs operate under these platforms in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
