Pune, June 20, 2025 – In a major upgrade to Pune’s power infrastructure, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has officially made its new Hinjawadi sub-division operational, significantly improving electricity services for the fast-growing IT hub and surrounding areas. The move comes alongside the activation of four new branch offices in Pimple Gurav, Pimple Nilakh, Wakad, and Hinjawadi MIDC, ensuring faster response times and better customer support.

Why the Restructuring?

With Pune’s Hinjawadi region emerging as a major IT and residential hub, the existing Sangvi sub-division was struggling to manage the surging electricity demand. After months of planning, MSEDCL has now successfully split the Sangvi sub-division, creating a dedicated Hinjawadi sub-division to streamline operations and reduce delays in service.

New Structure & Consumer Benefits

  • Sangvi Sub-Division now covers four branches (including the newly added Pimple Gurav and Pimple Nilakh) serving 1.4 lakh consumers.
  • Hinjawadi Sub-Division has three branches (including Wakad and Hinjawadi MIDC) catering to 1.16 lakh consumers.
  • 88 new technical and non-technical staff, including engineers and clerks, have been deployed to ensure efficient power supply and quick grievance resolution.

Important Update for Consumers

Residents and businesses in Hinjawadi must update their billing details for seamless online payments:

  1. Remove the old MSEB account from payment apps (Google Pay, PhonePe, etc.).
  2. Add a new account using the updated billing Unit: 4634 (replacing the old 4636).
  3. Future bills will reflect the new sub-division, ensuring smooth transactions.

“This restructuring was long overdue,” said Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar. “The Hinjawadi IT corridor needed dedicated infrastructure, and now consumers can expect faster service and fewer disruptions.”

The move has been welcomed by local residents and businesses, who had frequently faced delays in power complaint resolutions. With the new sub-division now active, MSEDCL aims to enhance reliability and efficiency in one of Pune’s most critical economic zones.
