Pune: Missing 18-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Charholi Well, Probe Underway
Pune News, June 27, 2025: In a tragic turn of events, the search for 18-year-old Vaishnavi Ingwale, who went missing from Dighi on June 25, ended with the recovery of her body from a 45-foot-deep well in Choviswadi, Charholi, on Thursday morning.
Vaishnavi’s family had reported her disappearance to the Dighi Police after she failed to return home. A local search led to the discovery of a scarf, suspected to be hers, near a well close to her residence. Acting on this lead, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Fire Brigade launched a rescue operation with multiple fire tenders from Choviswadi, Moshi, and Pimpri stations.
Using an underwater camera, the emergency team located Vaishnavi’s body submerged deep in the well. After a challenging retrieval operation using rope equipment, her body was handed over to the police for further investigation.
Uncertain Cause of Death
Inspector Bapu Dhere of Dighi Police Station stated, “We have no conclusive information yet on the cause of death. Initial observations suggest it could be an accidental fall, but we are exploring all possibilities, including suicide or foul play.”
The body has been sent for postmortem, and authorities are awaiting the autopsy report to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death. A thorough investigation is underway under the supervision of Dighi Police.
