Pune: Massive Tree Falls on Car in Somwar Peth, Driver Rescued by Fire Brigade

Pune, June 11, 2024 – A major incident occurred late Monday night in Somwar Peth, Pune, when a large roadside tree collapsed onto a four-wheeler, trapping the driver inside. The accident took place near the Samarth Police Station, causing panic in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the tree suddenly fell onto the moving car, pinning the vehicle beneath its weight. The driver was stuck inside, unable to free himself. Upon receiving the alert, the local fire brigade team rushed to the scene and conducted a swift rescue operation. They successfully extricated the driver unharmed and cleared the fallen tree from the road to prevent further hazards.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the tree collapse. Preliminary reports suggest that possible root weakening or adverse weather conditions may have contributed to the incident. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been urged to inspect aging trees across the city to prevent similar accidents in the future.
