Pune: Major Fire in Rahatani-Wakad’s Park Street Society Meter Box; Swift Action by Fire Brigade Prevents Tragedy
Pune News, July 17, 2025: In a daring rescue and firefighting operation, Pune Fire Brigade swiftly responded to a fire outbreak at Park Street Society in the Rahatani-Wakad area on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred at around 12:26 PM, when a fire broke out in the meter box located on the ground floor of the residential complex.
Upon receiving the emergency call, two fire tenders from the Main Fire Station rushed to the scene. The firefighters launched an immediate operation and successfully doused the flames using water jets, preventing the fire from spreading further.
The situation was particularly alarming due to heavy smoke emanating from the meter box, which quickly engulfed the upper floors—especially the fourth floor. The dense smoke trapped several residents, including elderly citizens, who found it difficult to evacuate on their own.
