Pune: Major accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway leaves one dead, two injured

A tragic accident occured on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near kilometer 36.300 at 10:45 AM on March 25, resulting in the death of a tanker driver and minor injuries to two car occupants. The incident occurred when the tanker driver lost control, causing the vehicle to swerve before overturning. This resulted in collision with a car and another container, leading to its overturn as well.

The driver of the overturned container, identified as Ritesh Changdev Jagdal, a 32-year-old resident of Satara, sustained minor injuries. Authorities were quick to respond to the accident, with teams from the Highway Traffic Police, Borghat, the Highway Traffic Patrol, RTO officials, Maharashtra Security Force, and volunteers from social organisations providing assistance.

The deceased driver’s body was taken to Khopoli Municipal Hospital, and the scene was managed under the supervision of Khopoli Police Station. Efforts to clear the vehicles promptly restored traffic flow.

In a related incident in Satara, a tempo skidded off the road at Ambenali Ghat in Mahabaleshwar, plunging into a 400 feet valley. The tempo was reported to have passengers at the time of the accident.
