Pune: Khadki Railway Station Undergoing Major Upgrade; Set to Become Terminal Station by End of 2025, Boosting Railway Connectivity
Pune News, July 03, 2025: The redevelopment work at Khadki Railway Station is progressing swiftly, with platforms 3 and 4 expected to be operational by September 2025. This upgrade aims to decongest Pune Railway Station while enhancing connectivity for commuters in nearby areas.
Railway officials confirmed that the revamped Khadki station will integrate seamlessly with the adjacent Khadki Metro station, offering direct access to the Pune Metro network. This integration is expected to significantly benefit daily commuters, especially those traveling on the Lonavala–Pune route.
Key Development Highlights:
✅ Foot Overbridges (FOBs):
- A 6-metre-wide FOB is under construction at the Mumbai end.
- Another FOB at the Pune end (awaiting approval) will connect Khadki Metro Station to Aundh Road.
✅ New Platforms:
- Platforms 3 and 4 are under construction to accommodate additional train services.
✅ Passenger Facilities:
- Proposed installations include lifts, escalators, coach guidance systems, and digital train indicator boards.
- Development of a booking office, parcel office, parking area, TTE office, waiting rooms, and halls on Platform 4.
✅ Enhanced Amenities:
- Cover over platforms (COP), toilet blocks, seating, lighting, and fans will be provided for passenger comfort.
Current & Future Train Services
Khadki station currently serves long-distance trains like Deccan Express, Koyana Express, CSMT–Chennai Express, and Sinhgad Express. A new originating train from Khadki is also in the pipeline, confirmed a railway official.
Recently Pune Metro started Khadki Station to boost local connectivity which will be added benefit for railway passengers.
Once completed, this redevelopment will boost last-mile connectivity and streamline public transport integration in Pune.
