Pune: Khadakwasla Dam Releases 4,345 Cusecs of Water – Citizens Urged to Stay Alert
Pune, June 19, 2025 – The Khadakwasla Dam authorities have announced the release of 4,345 cusecs of water from the spillway into the Mutha River at 6:00 PM today, as confirmed by Shweta Kurhade, Monitoring Officer, Central Control Room, Pune. The discharge has been increased from the ongoing 2,000 cusecs due to rising water levels, with further escalation possible depending on rainfall intensity.
Precautionary Measures Issued
The Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra, has issued a high alert for Pune city and surrounding areas. Residents, especially those near the Mutha River basin, are advised to:
- Stay vigilant and avoid riverbanks.
- Relocate livestock, vehicles, or any valuable items from low-lying areas immediately.
- Follow updates from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Disaster Management Cell, and Police Commissionerate.
