Pune: IMD Issues Thunderstorm Alert for Pune and Raigad, Warns of Lightning and Gusty Winds
Pune/Raigad, 28th May 2025 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai, has issued a nowcast warning for isolated parts of Pune and Raigad districts. The alert, released at 1:00 PM IST today, predicts thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall over the next 3 to 4 hours.
According to the IMD, gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph are also expected during this period. Residents in the affected areas have been advised to take necessary precautions while venturing outdoors.
“Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and light to moderate spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places,” the IMD stated. Authorities urge people to stay updated on weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel during the alert period.
