Pune, 18th June 2025 – A horrific road accident near Shriram Dhaba on the Jejuri-Morgaon Road claimed eight lives and left four others injured, including two children. The incident occurred around 6:45 PM near Kirloskar Company, under the jurisdiction of the Jejuri Police Station.
What Happened?
According to police reports, Somnath Ramchandra Vayase, owner of Shriram Dhaba, was unloading a refrigerator from a pickup truck when a speeding Swift Dzire crashed into the vehicle from behind. The impact was so severe that seven men and one woman died on the spot, while one man, one woman, and two children sustained serious injuries.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as:
- Somnath Ramchandra Vayase – Purandar taluka, Pune
- Ramu Sanjeevani Yadav – Purandar taluka, Pune
- Ajay Kumar Chavan – Uttar Pradesh
- Ajit Ashok Jadhav – Kanjale, Bhor taluka, Pune
- Kiran Bharat Raut – Pawarwadi, Indapur taluka, Pune
- Ashwini Santosh S.R. – Solapur
- Akshay Sanjay Raut – Zhargadwadi, Baramati taluka, Pune
- One unidentified male
The bodies were moved to Jejuri Rural Hospital for post-mortem, while the injured were admitted to Shantai Hospital, Jejuri for treatment.
Police Investigation Underway
The Jejuri Police are investigating the cause of the accident, including whether speeding or negligence played a role. Authorities are also working to identify the unidentified deceased and notify his family.
