Pune: Hinjawadi Residents Perform Chhath Puja on the Banks of Mula River with Devotion and Unity
Pune/Hinjawadi, October 28, 2025: The spirit of devotion and community came alive in Hinjawadi as hundreds of residents gathered on the banks of the Mula River near Blue Ridge Township to celebrate Chhath Puja. The event, held on Monday evening and early Tuesday morning, saw devotees from various North Indian states come together to offer prayers to the Sun God, Surya.

Local leaders and volunteers from Chhath Puja Seva Samiti, Hinjawadi, organized pandals and provided essential facilities to ensure smooth celebrations. The arrangements reflected the growing cultural diversity in the area, with local leaders and community groups actively encouraging and supporting festivals from different parts of the country.
Their efforts highlight Hinjawadi’s welcoming spirit, where residents from across India come together to celebrate each other’s traditions and strengthen the sense of unity in the neighbourhood.
Chhath Puja is one of the most important festivals dedicated to the Sun God and his sister, Chhathi Maiya. It is celebrated six days after Diwali and lasts for four days, involving rituals like fasting, standing in water, offering arghya (water and prayers) to the rising and setting sun, and preparing special prasada such as thekua and fruits.

The festival is a time of deep faith and gratitude, where devotees thank Surya for sustaining life on Earth and seek blessings for prosperity and well-being. The celebrations in Hinjawadi reflected both devotion and a strong sense of unity, with people from different backgrounds joining in to witness the rituals.
With the serene backdrop of the Mula River and a vibrant community spirit, Chhath Puja in Hinjawadi was a reminder of how traditional festivals continue to bring people together, even in a modern, fast-growing city like Pune.
