Hinjawadi, June 14, 2025 â€“ Once hailed as Maharashtra’s “Silicon Valley,” Pune’s Hinjawadi is now grappling with severe infrastructure decay, including crumbling roads, chronic traffic congestion, waterlogging, and inconsistent civic services. Frustrated residents and daily commuters have rallied together, submitting a list of 11 urgent demands to authorities, calling for immediate action to restore the area’s livability and functionality.

The demands were put forth by the Hinjawadi IT Park Professional Commuters and Residents Group, highlighting the region’s administrative disarray. Despite being a thriving IT and employment hub, Hinjawadi remains under the governance of a gram panchayat, while road maintenance is split among multiple agencies—PMC, PCMC, MIDC, and PWD—leading to bureaucratic delays and neglect.

Key Demands by Residents:

  1. Clear accountability from governing bodies to avoid passing the buck.
  2. A reliable complaint redressal system for swift issue resolution.
  3. Regular maintenance of roads, footpaths, and streetlights.
  4. Improved traffic management with proper lanes, signals, signage, and enforcement.
  5. Upgraded drainage and sewage systems to prevent waterlogging.
  6. Strict pollution control from rampant construction activities.
  7. Regular road cleaning and efficient garbage collection.
  8. Removal of illegal encroachments disrupting traffic flow.
  9. 24×7 water and electricity supply without interruptions.
  10. Identification and deportation of illegal migrants causing civic strain.
  11. Enhanced e-bus connectivity and well-maintained bus stops.

Residents argue that the lack of coordination among authorities has worsened living conditions, prompting calls for Hinjawadi’s inclusion under either PCMC or PMC for centralized governance.

Social Media Outrage

The crisis has gained traction online, with images of flooded streets, pothole-ridden roads, and neglected infrastructure circulating widely. Locals insist that only a unified, accountable administration can restore Hinjawadi’s reputation as a world-class IT destination.
