A 20-year-old woman died in a tragic accident near the Life Republic township on Monday afternoon when a dumper ran over the two-wheeler she was riding on with her father. The young woman, identified as Tanvi Sakhare, was riding pillion. Her father, Siddheshwar Sakhare, survived with injuries and is currently stable.

How the Accident Happened

The accident took place around 1.30 pm. Heavy vehicles are allowed on internal roads during this time, as restrictions apply only from 8 am to 12 pm and again from 4 pm to 10 pm.

According to initial findings, the motorcycle and the dumper were travelling side by side. The two-wheeler lost balance, causing both riders to fall in different directions. Tanvi fell towards the dumper, and the rear wheels ran over her. She died on the spot. Her father sustained injuries and received immediate medical attention.

The dumper driver fled after the incident. A case is being registered for causing death by negligence, and officers are checking CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses to confirm the sequence of events.

Residents in the Hinjawadi belt say dumper-related accidents have increased in recent months, claiming several lives. They allege that despite multiple complaints and protests, little has changed on the ground. Many are demanding better regulation of heavy-vehicle movement and stricter enforcement to improve road safety.

Final Rites

Tanvi’s family shared that her last rites will be performed at the Hinjawadi crematorium on Monday evening. The incident has left the community in shock, prompting renewed calls for action to prevent such tragedies.
