Pune News, July 23, 2025: In a shocking case of domestic abuse and digital voyeurism, a Maharashtra government officer has accused her husband, also a Class One government officer, of installing hidden cameras in their bedroom and bathroom to record her private moments. The victim further alleged that her husband subjected her to mental and physical harassment while demanding ₹1.5 lakh as dowry for his car and EMIs.
The 31-year-old woman, employed in a government department, filed a complaint at the Ambegaon police station, stating that her husband had been harassing her since their marriage in 2020. According to the FIR, the accused secretly placed spy cameras inside their home, capturing intimate footage, including videos of her bathing. He later allegedly blackmailed her, threatening to leak the videos unless she arranged money from her family.
The victim also revealed enduring constant suspicion about her character, leading to prolonged emotional and psychological torture. Based on her complaint, the police have booked seven individuals, including her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and other relatives under Sections 85 (cruelty by husband or relatives), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act. The charges include criminal intimidation, harassment, invasion of privacy, and extortion.
Authorities have launched a probe into the matter, highlighting the alarming misuse of technology in domestic abuse cases.
