Pune: Good News for PCMC Residents; PCMC-Nigdi Metro Extension will have four stations instead of three announced earlier
Pune, Dec 28, 2023: In a major development for Pune’s public transport network, the planned Metro extension from PCMC to Nigdi will now include four stations instead of the previously planned three.
The information was shared by Mahesh Landge, MLA of Bhosari, expressing gratitude towards the Pune Metro team for incorporating citizens’ demands.
The four new stations that will feature on this extension are:
- Chinchwad Station Chowk
- Akurdi, Khandoba Mal Chowk
- Nigdi, Tilak Chowk
- Nigdi, Bhakti Shakti Chowk
Landge highlighted the strategic importance of Tilak Chowk, Nigdi, noting its position as a busy junction connecting the densely populated areas of Nigdi Pradhikaran and Yamunanagar. The expansion is anticipated to provide much-needed relief and convenience in public transportation for these areas.
Furthermore, Landge urged the Pune Metro team and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to collaborate in ensuring adequate parking infrastructure alongside the new stations. This move is seen as essential to enhance the overall efficiency and accessibility of the Metro service.
The inclusion of these stations is expected to significantly boost the convenience and sustainability of public transportation for the residents of PCMC, aiding in the reduction of traffic congestion and promoting environmental friendliness.
