Pune Gears Up for Global Cycling Championship 2026: PMC Speeds Up Road Repairs Across the City
In preparation for the upcoming Global Cycling Championship 2026, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has begun large-scale road repair work across the city. The international event will take place from January 19 to January 23, 2026, featuring top cyclists from India and abroad.
The championship route will cover nearly 75 kilometres of Pune’s roads, which are now being upgraded to meet international racing standards. To ensure a smooth and safe track for participants, PMC has started milling and resurfacing several roads. Once the old surface is removed, fresh asphalt work is being completed on a war footing.
PMC officials have urged citizens to drive carefully on these stretches, as the ongoing repair work may cause minor inconvenience. The civic body has assured that all works will be completed well before the event to minimize disruption.
This international cycling event is expected to put Pune on the global cycling map, promoting the city as a world-class sporting destination. Citizens have been requested to cooperate during this short period of road work for the successful hosting of the Global Cycling Championship 2026.
