Gas Leak Suspected as Cause
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was caused by a gas leak from a domestic LPG cylinder. Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage and reviewing safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
Second Gas Leak Incident in Pune Raises Safety Concerns
In a separate incident in Wadkar Mala, another gas leak led to a powerful explosion, injuring a family of four. The couple suffered 80% burns, while their two children sustained 40% burns. Officials suspect a loose stove knob caused the leak, which ignited when the stove was lit.

These back-to-back incidents have raised serious concerns about household gas safety in Pune. Authorities have urged residents to check gas connections regularly and report leaks immediately to avoid accidents.
Fire Safety Awareness Crucial
The Pune Fire Brigade’s swift action prevented further casualties in both incidents. However, the accidents highlight the need for public awareness on gas safety protocols, especially in densely populated areas.
