Pune: Fire Breaks out at Midnight in Ramwadi; 200 Residents Evacuated

Pune News, July 07, 2025: In a late-night incident, a fire broke out near Ramwadi Gaothan on Nagar Road, Pune, gutting six parked two-wheelers and filling a commercial building with thick smoke. Thanks to the swift action of the Pune Fire Brigade, over 200 residents were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported.
Timely Rescue Prevents Major Tragedy
The fire erupted around 1 AM outside a commercial building, quickly engulfing parked vehicles and sending dense smoke through the premises. The intense heat shattered a glass railing, which inadvertently helped ventilate the smoke and facilitated the evacuation process.
Fire officials confirmed that approximately 200 people were inside the building at the time. “Our priority was ensuring everyone’s safety,” said an assistant commissioner of the Pune Fire Department. “Around 100 residents were evacuated first, followed by the remaining occupants. Officers Nitin Tengire and Sanjay Jadhav displayed exceptional bravery during the operation.”
Fire Contained, Investigation Underway
The flames were confined to the parked vehicles and did not spread further due to the fire brigade’s prompt response. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, with no official statement yet on whether it was accidental or due to negligence.
This incident highlights the critical role of emergency services in preventing disasters. Pune residents have lauded the fire department’s efficiency, which averted what could have been a far more severe tragedy.
