Pune: Experimental Changes in Heavy Vehicle Traffic in Red Zones on July 19-20 and 26-27 to Ease City Congestion
Pune News, July 18, 2025: In response to the demands of CREDAI and considering the challenges faced by construction businesses, the Pune City Traffic Police have announced experimental changes in heavy vehicle movement within the city’s red zones. These changes, aimed at minimizing traffic congestion and accidents caused by construction-related heavy vehicles, will be in effect on July 19, 20, 26, and 27, 2025.
The notification, issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Himmat Jadhav, outlines detailed restrictions and permitted hours for construction-related heavy vehicles like dumpers and RMC (Ready Mix Concrete) mixers. However, slow-moving construction vehicles such as JCBs, road rollers, tractors, and other goods transport vehicles are exempted.
Traffic Rules for Construction-Related Heavy Vehicles:
Allowed entry in Red Zones:
- Saturday, July 19 and 26, 2025: Entry allowed except between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM
- Sunday, July 20 and 27, 2025: Full-day entry permitted
This experimental order is applicable only to vehicles involved in ongoing construction activities, excluding slow-moving vehicles and general freight carriers.

Eastern Pune:
- Viman Nagar to Dattamandir Chowk
- Shastrinagar to Kalyani Nagar
- Parnkuti Chowk to Koregaon Park
- Vadgaon Sheri to Bishop’s School, Kalyani Nagar
- Petrol Pump Chowk to Airport
- Lohegaon to Petrol Pump Chowk
Central Pune:
- Patil Estate to Engineering College Chowk
- Bremen Chowk to University Chowk
- Bremen Chowk to Aundh Parihar Chowk
- Aundh-Wakad Road beyond Mahadji Shinde Bridge
Western Pune:
- Pashan Shivaji Bridge to Abhimanshree Chowk
- Paud Road to Nal Stop
- Paud Road to SNDT/Law College Road
- Karve Putala to Paud Phata
- Rajaram Bridge to Swargate and Karvenagar/DP Road
Southern Pune:
- Market Yard to Swargate
- Dandekar Bridge to Senadatta Chowki
- Mitramandal Chowk to Sarasbaug
- Seven Loves Chowk to Timber Market and Swargate
Camp and Eastern Cantonment Areas:
- Ghorpadi Galli to Khanya Maruti and Camp

Additional Instructions:
- The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is directed to install clear signage at all restriction points and submit a compliance report within seven days.
- The press release is to be widely circulated and published in all major newspapers.
- Updates will be made available on Pune Traffic Police’s official website, Facebook, and Twitter platforms.
- Traffic planning departments and construction authorities are instructed to cooperate fully.
The Pune Traffic Police appeal to all drivers and contractors to comply with the temporary traffic regulations, emphasizing:
“Follow the rules, avoid accidents.”
