Pune: Drunk Cab Driver Rams Tea Stall, Hits 12 Including MPSC Aspirants Near Bhave High School

Pune, May 31, 2025: A drunk cab driver plowed into a group of people, including Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) aspirants, near Bhave High School in Sadashiv Peth on Saturday evening. The accident, which occurred around 5:30 PM, left 12 injured—five of them MPSC students.
Eyewitnesses said the speeding car, driven by an intoxicated man, lost control and rammed into pedestrians and vehicles near a tea stall. A girl and four others suffered serious leg injuries. The injured were rushed to Sancheti and Modak hospitals for treatment.
Police confirmed that the driver and two co-passengers were under the influence of alcohol. “Preliminary investigation points to rash and negligent driving. All three are in custody, and a case is being registered at Vishrambaug Police Station,” officials said.
The incident has sparked outrage, renewing calls for stricter enforcement against drunk driving in Pune. Authorities are under pressure to take preventive measures to avoid such tragedies.
