Pune News, June 15, 2025: While Pune has been experiencing significant rainfall over the past few days, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours, residents are left wondering why the city still feels warm and humid instead of enjoying the typical cool monsoon weather. The usual relief from scorching summer heat seems elusive, leaving many questioning the unusual weather pattern.
Noted weather scientist Dr. Vineet Kumar has clarified the phenomenon, stating that Pune has not yet received the monsoon westerly winds, which are crucial for bringing down temperatures and creating a pleasant monsoon climate. Instead, the city is currently experiencing winds from the east/southeast direction, leading to higher humidity and discomfort.
However, there’s good news for Punekars. Dr. Kumar predicts that the much-awaited monsoon westerly winds will establish over Pune starting June 16, bringing the expected cool and refreshing weather. Until then, intermittent rains combined with warm conditions are likely to persist.
