Cold Wave Alert: IMD Warns of Sharp Temperature Drop Across Maharashtra
Pune Records Season’s Lowest Temperature
Pune is heading into a sharp dip in temperatures, with the IMD issuing a Pune cold wave alert for 16 November. Shivajinagar recorded 10.6°C, which is 4.8°C below normal and the lowest so far this season. The IMD expects Pune’s minimum temperature to settle around 10°C on 16 November, while the outskirts may slide into single digits.
Clear skies and northerly winds are cooling the region quickly. Former IMD Pune forecasting head Anupam Kashyapi said Pune may stay near 10°C for the next 48 hours and advised residents to take precautions.

Maharashtra Districts See Widespread Cold Wave Conditions
Several districts in North and Central Maharashtra are running three to five degrees below normal. Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Bhandara and Gondia are among the areas experiencing sharp drops.
Nashik has already logged 10.1°C. IMD’s maps show blue-green zones over many parts of the state, indicating significantly below-normal minimum temperatures. Isolated cold wave conditions are also likely in parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and West Vidarbha.

Delhi’s Safdarjung station recorded 9°C, the lowest of this season. The cold is more intense in Madhya Pradesh, with several cities reporting deep departures from normal.
