Pune News, June 10, 2025: In a major relief for Punekars, the much-awaited flyover section from Bremen Chowk to E-Square on Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Road will open to the public next week. Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole confirmed the development, marking a significant step toward decongesting one of Pune’s busiest routes.

Flyover Inauguration Next Week

The Free Press Journal quoted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Siddharth Shirole as saying, “The construction work of the flyover is almost complete. The first phase, from Bremen Chowk to E-Square Chowk, will be inaugurated next week. However, the other stretch will be operational in the next three months. We are continuously following up on the progress, and discussions with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the inauguration are underway.” Shirole shared this update on Tuesday.

Originally slated for a May 1 opening, the project faced delays due to incomplete work. Meanwhile, the two-tier flyover at SPPU Chowk is also nearing completion and is expected to open soon.

A Boost for Pune’s Traffic Infrastructure

Constructed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), the flyover aims to alleviate chronic traffic congestion along Ganeshkhind Road, a key arterial route. The project is part of the larger Puneri Metro initiative, linking Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar.

The flyover will feature a metro line on the upper tier, with ramps below connecting to Aundh, Shivajinagar, and Pashan. However, ongoing construction has caused daily traffic disruptions, frustrating commuters who have urged authorities to expedite the work.

With the partial opening next week, Punekars can expect smoother commutes, while the remaining sections are expected to be operational within three months.
