Pune: Autorickshaw suddenly catches fire while filing CNG
In the afternoon today an auto rickshaw caught fire while filling CNG at Satara Road’s Bhapkar petrol pump. Quick response from fire brigade and alertness and timely intervention of the petrol pump staff in dousing the fire averted a major accident.
The incident occurred at around 2.30 pm today, i.e. April 14.
The autorickshaw was completely destroyed in the fire. Fortunately the passenger inside the autorickshaw and the driver escaped unhurt.
Firemen, the driver of the autorickshaw, and the petrol pump staff all roped in to douse the fire in time before it could have resulted in a catastrophe, given the fact that large amounts of highly inflammable hydrocarbons are stored at petrol pumps.
