Pune, 24th June 2025 â€“ Air India has announced a 5% reduction in its narrow-body aircraft operations, significantly impacting Pune with the cancellation of five flights, including the suspension of its international service to Singapore.

The decision comes in the wake of a recent accident involving an Air India aircraft in Ahmedabad, which raised safety concerns about the airline’s fleet. In response, Air India initially grounded all Boeing 787 Dreamliners used for long-haul international flights and reduced wide-body operations by 15%.

The latest 5% cut in narrow-body flights—primarily serving domestic routes—has now hit Pune’s connectivity. The changes are expected to remain until mid-July as the airline reassesses its flight operations.

Key Impacts on Pune:

  • Pune-Singapore international route suspended indefinitely.
  • Delhi-Pune frequency reduced from 59 to 54 weekly flights.
  • Affected passengers will be rebooked on alternate flights or offered full refunds.

While Air India assures that these measures are temporary and driven by safety reviews, the move has raised concerns among frequent flyers and business travelers who depend on the airline’s domestic and international networks.
