Pune: AI-Based Camera System on FC Road Detects Over 300 Traffic Violations in 4 Days

Pune’s bustling Fergusson College (FC) Road is now under the vigilant watch of an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered camera system, recently inaugurated to enhance road safety and discipline.
Between May 28 and May 31, 2025, the AI-based surveillance setup detected and triggered E-Challans for a total of 347 traffic violations, categorized as follows:
- No Parking – 74 cases
- Double Parking – 155 cases
- Wrong-Side Driving – 81 cases
- Triple Riding – 37 cases
The advanced system is designed to automatically identify violations such as illegal parking, double parking, extended halts, and driving against traffic flow. E-challans are issued instantly to offenders, reinforcing stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.
The system was officially inaugurated on May 28, 2025, by Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, alongside Additional Commissioner (East Division) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sandeep Bhajibhakare, and other officials. The AI camera network is expected to act as a silent but effective deterrent against reckless driving and violations.

“Let’s drive with care and make our streets safer for all,” urged the Pune Traffic Police, encouraging citizens to cooperate in making city roads more orderly.
The AI surveillance system is part of a broader campaign to upgrade traffic safety in one of Pune’s busiest and most congested corridors. As officials emphasize, these silent guardians are not just cameras — they are reminders that safety is the first step to a smooth journey.
