Pune, June 05, 2025: In a tragic incident that has shocked Pune’s IT community, a 25-year-old woman working at a reputed IT firm died by suicide after jumping from the 21st floor of a residential tower in Hinjawadi on May 31. The deceased has been identified as Abhilasha Bhausaheb Kothimbire, a resident of Hinjawadi and originally from Ranjangaon.

Abhilasha was employed at a prestigious IT company on Pune’s Senapati Bapat Road (SB Road). According to police sources, she was close friends with a woman of her age residing at The Crown Greens Housing Society in Hinjawadi Phase 1, whom she often visited.

On the early morning of May 31, Abhilasha arrived at the society around 4:38 AM on her two-wheeler and took the elevator to the 21st floor, as confirmed by CCTV footage. However, she did not meet her friend. Instead, she jumped from the high-rise building, dying on the spot.

A call was received by Hinjawadi Police at 6:56 AM, alerting them about an unidentified woman’s body near the building. Night patrol officer API Somnath Panchal and his team immediately responded to the scene.

A parked two-wheeler in the society premises helped police identify Abhilasha, with further confirmation from her mobile phone that traced her residence to Guruprasad Homes, near Vitthal Rukmini Temple, Hinjawadi. Her roommate confirmed she was last seen at 1:00 AM, and was found missing at 5:00 AM. Faint blood stains were also seen on their bathroom wall.

Police recovered a suicide note both from her possession and her residence. The note stated:

“I’m done living. I don’t want to live anymore. I have lost the will to live. I am doing this of my own free will.”
She also apologized to her parents and friends for her actions.

Additional items recovered from her home included blood-stained belongings like a napkin, undergarments, and a pillow cover, indicating she might have self-harmed before heading to The Crown Greens.

A post-mortem at YCM Hospital concluded that she died due to injuries to multiple vital organs. Her father told the police that she appeared happy at home and showed no signs of distress, which has made the incident even more baffling for the family.

Abhilasha’s roommate told police that she had been mentally disturbed in recent times. Authorities have ruled out any foul play but are continuing their investigation to understand what led to this tragic loss.
