Pune: 15 New Metro Trains & 45 Additional Coaches to Boost Pune Metro’s Fleet Amid Rising Ridership
Pune News, June 28, 2025: In response to the increasing passenger demand and the approval of new metro routes, the Pune Metro is set to expand its fleet with 15 new trains and 45 additional coaches. This move by MahaMetro aims to enhance commuter comfort and decongest the metro system, ensuring smoother and more efficient travel for Punekars.

Why the Expansion?
With Pune Metro’s ridership growing steadily, overcrowding—especially during peak hours—has become a major concern. The recent approval of two new metro routes has further necessitated the expansion. Each new train will consist of three coaches, significantly increasing capacity and reducing congestion.
