PUNE: The Government of Maharashtra has officially declared a public holiday on Thursday, January 15, 2026, to facilitate voting for the upcoming elections across 29 Municipal Corporations in the state.

The notification, issued by the General Administration Department under the orders of the Governor of Maharashtra, mandates a holiday for all state government offices, semi-government offices, corporations, and boards within the designated election areas.

Wide Coverage Across Maharashtra

The holiday applies to a massive administrative stretch, covering major urban hubs in the Konkan, Nashik, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Amravati, and Nagpur divisions. In the Pune region specifically, the holiday will be observed within the limits of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

Other major cities included in the list are Brihanmumbai (BMC), Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli, Nashik, Solapur, Kolhapur, and Nagpur.
