PMRDA Sets December 5 Deadline to Repair Roads in Hinjawadi
Pune, November 28, 2025: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has directed all agencies to wrap up pothole repair work in Hinjawadi by December 5. The instructions were issued during a review meeting held at the Akurdi office on Wednesday. Commissioner Yogesh Mhase also told the Metro Line 3 team to begin resurfacing stretches located under the project corridor.
At the meeting, held on the instructions of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Mhase reviewed traffic and road-related issues in Hinjewadi, Wagholi and Shikrapur. The session saw participation from officials of the Revenue Department, police, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and local residents.
PMRDA officials discussed the status of land acquisition for new and existing roads. The agencies flagged pothole-ridden accident-prone spots and stressed the need for urgent asphalt work. NHAI informed the gathering that construction of underpasses and service roads along the Pune–Mumbai bypass is currently underway.
The industrial association raised concerns about rising safety issues in Hinjawadi, after which PMRDA agreed to fund installation of CCTV cameras in the area. Residents also pointed out problems caused by dust from ready-mix concrete plants and unsafe movement of dumpers. Mhase instructed officials to initiate action against those violating norms, while RTO officers were asked to ensure trucks operate with proper covers.
MIDC shared that surveys of natural drains in Hinjawadi have been completed and a report on encroachments and blockages will be submitted within the week. Mhase said PMRDA will back proposals aimed at easing congestion and improving safety on key routes.
