Pimpri-Chinchwad Crime Report 2025: Significant Drop Noted in Published Data
PUNE – The Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) has released its comprehensive crime statistics for 2025, revealing a significant shift in the city’s safety landscape. Under the leadership of Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey, the force’s “Data-First” strategy has successfully curtailed traditional street crimes, even as law enforcement scales up its battle against evolving cyber threats.
Street Crime & Property Offenses See Sharp Decline
The 2025 annual data showcases a marked reduction in offenses that directly impact the daily lives of Pimpri Chinchwadkars. Through the mapping of 1,585 criminals on record and the identification of 1,045 “hotspots,” the police achieved the following:
- Chain Snatching: Incidents fell by 14%, from 87 in 2024 to 75 in 2025. Notably, detection rates surged from 57% to a staggering 83%.
- House Break-ins (Burglaries): Reported cases dropped from 311 to 285, with detection efficiency rising to 51%.
- Overall Property Crimes: A total of 2,129 cases were recorded, a decrease from 2,474 in the previous year.
- Serious Crimes: Combined figures for murder, attempted murder, dacoity, and robbery fell to 6,904 cases (down from 7,125).

The ₹24.4 Crore Cyber Success
A standout achievement in 2025 was the performance of the dedicated Cyber Crime Police Station. The unit registered 269 cases and arrested 215 individuals, traveling across various Indian cities to nab suspects. Most impressively, the department recovered ₹24.4 crore lost to cybercrooks, a 404% increase in fund recovery compared to 2024. Commissioner Choubey credited this success to the “Golden Hour” reporting mechanism, where victims alerted authorities immediately after being defrauded.
Strict Enforcement and Social Trends
The year also saw a record-breaking crackdown on illegal weaponry, with 243 country-made pistols and 908 sharp weapons seized. To neutralize organized crime, the PCPC invoked the stringent MCOCA against 213 offenders from 45 syndicates.
However, the report highlighted emerging social challenges. While street crimes dropped, rape cases rose by 15% (from 261 to 301). Analysis revealed that in 99% of these cases, the perpetrator was known to the victim, with 120 cases involving exploitation under the false promise of marriage.
Future-Ready Infrastructure
Beyond policing, the PCPC is investing in its personnel. Construction has begun on a new Police Commissioner Office at Chikhali with an initial ₹50 crore grant. Additionally, a new hospital in Wakad and a housing colony in Pimpri are underway to support the force of 4,000 personnel.
