Pimpri-Chinchwad is buzzing with cultural fervor as the much-awaited Pavanathadi Jatra 2026 officially kicks off today, February 25, at the PWD Ground in Sangvi.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has once again transformed the Sangvi skyline into a vibrant hub of Maharashtrian heritage. Organized by the Social Development Department, this five-day extravaganza aims to empower women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by providing them a massive commercial platform to showcase their craftsmanship and culinary skills.

The 2026 edition of the Jatra is scheduled from February 25 to March 1, 2026. The festivities will take place daily at the PWD Ground, Sangvi, with the official inauguration performed by Mayor Ravi Landge and other dignitaries.

For the convenience of citizens, entry and parking are free throughout the duration of the event.

What to Expect: Stalls and Shopping

This year, the exhibition features over 750 stalls, meticulously categorized to offer a diverse shopping experience. Visitors can browse through:

  • Handicrafts & Decor: Hand-woven textiles, traditional artifacts, and home decor items.
  • Homemade Products: Authentic pickles, papads, spices, and beauty products crafted by local women entrepreneurs.
  • Special Inclusivity: Dedicated stalls have been allocated to disabled entrepreneurs and transgender self-help groups to ensure social integration.

A Paradise for Food Lovers

The Pavanathadi Jatra is synonymous with authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. Foodies from across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad can indulge in:

  • Vegetarian Delights: The legendary Khandeshi Mande, Pithla Bhakari, and Shengole.
  • Non-Vegetarian Specialities: Authentic Gavran Mutton and chicken preparations served with hot Bhakaris. With over 300 food-specific stalls, the event promises a true “Gavran” (rural) taste in an urban setting.

Daily Cultural Programs (6:00 PM Onwards)

To add to the festive spirit, PCMC has organized a series of evening cultural events starting at 6:00 PM daily:

  • Thursday: Home Minister (Interactive Game Show)
  • Friday: Orchestra Musical Stars
  • Saturday: Folk Sanskriti
  • Sunday: The Folk Lavani (Grand Finale)

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

The primary goal of the Pavanathadi Jatra 2026 is to provide a market platform for women’s SHGs. Assistant Commissioner Tanaji Narle highlighted that the event not only helps in sales—which crossed ₹1.25 crore in previous years—but also equips women with essential marketing and financial literacy skills.
