Passport Seva App Simplifies Passport Services for Citizens
Passport Seva mobile app of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) makes passport-related work much simpler and more accessible. The app, available on both Android and iOS, allows citizens to apply for a new passport, renew an existing one, pay fees, and track their application status directly from their phones.
Earlier, many applicants had to rely on cyber cafés or agents for such tasks. Now, the app provides a secure and convenient alternative, especially helpful for people in rural areas with limited access to computers and internet services.
Through the Passport Seva app, users can:
- Apply for new passports or renewals
- Schedule appointments at Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs)
- Check the list of required documents for different services
- Calculate fees and make payments online
- Track application and delivery status in real time
The app also helps users locate the nearest PSK, POPSK, or police station based on their location. It includes a section for FAQs, reducing errors and confusion during the application process.
Regional Passport Officer Dr. Arjun Deore has encouraged citizens to make use of this digital service. He described the app as a “one-stop solution” for passport services, saving people time, money, and effort while ensuring data security since it is directly authorised by the government.
Downloading the app is simple. Citizens can search for “Passport Seva” on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, register or log in with their existing Passport Seva Portal ID, and start the process from home.
