Panic in Pune’s Akurdi as Masked Man Moves Around Carrying a Knife; Turns Out to be a Scrap Collector with No Harmful Intent
There was panic on the streets of Akurdi area of Pune as a masked man was seen moving around the street carrying a knife. Concerned citizens immediately informed police.
A team from Nigdi police station, led by Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bansode, quickly launched a search operation to locate and apprehend the man. The team found the man near Shitaladevi Chowk, close to Golden Gym, and was detained for questioning.
The man was identified as 68-year-old Machhindra Narayan Navgire, a resident of Akurdi Gaothan. During inquiry, Navgire explained that he works as a scrap collector and carries the knife only to cut open gunny bags while collecting waste materials.

Police officers confirmed that there was no malicious intent behind his actions. He was taken into custody for verification and later released. The police have appealed to residents not to panic and to immediately report any suspicious movements in their areas to the police.
