The event will take place daily from 10 AM to 5 PM at the Traffic Branch Office, Bungalow No. 6, near Yerwada Post Office, Pune.

During these four days, people can resolve minor traffic violations like riding without a helmet, driving without a seatbelt, jumping signals, or operating a vehicle without a number plate. The initiative is aimed at helping citizens legally settle their fines and avoid further complications.

This Lok Adalat follows directions from the Bombay High Court, under which all Pune courts will observe the Lok Adalat on September 13. Leading the effort are Principal District Judge Mahendra Mahajan, Secretary Judge Sonal Patil, Motor Vehicle Court Judge S.B. Patil, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, and Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Himmat Jadhav.

Eligible traffic violations include:

  • Riding a two-wheeler without a helmet
  • Driving without a seatbelt
  • Jumping signals
  • Over-speeding
  • Wrong parking
  • Using a mobile phone while driving
  • Driving without license or PUC certificate
  • Missing fitness certificate
  • Wrong-lane driving
  • Driving without a number plate

However, serious offences like drunk driving, hit-and-run cases, fatal accidents, underage driving, illegal racing, using vehicles for crimes, or cases already under court hearings won’t be eligible for concessions.

Speaking about the drive, Judge Mahendra Mahajan said, “This initiative makes it easier for people to settle their pending traffic fines and become free of dues. We encourage everyone to participate.”

Judge Sonal Patil added, “Apart from settling fines, this Lok Adalat is a great opportunity to create awareness about traffic rules and discipline.”

This is a chance for Pune’s motorists to clean up their record while getting some relief on fines. Don’t miss it.
