NHAI Simplifies FASTag ‘Know Your Vehicle’ (KYV) Process for Easier Compliance
New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has simplified the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for FASTag users to make it more convenient and user-friendly. The move aims to enhance customer experience and strengthen the FASTag ecosystem across India’s national highways.
As per the revised guidelines issued by the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), FASTag services will no longer be discontinued immediately for non-compliant vehicles. Instead, users will get sufficient time and reminders to complete their KYV process before any action is taken.
Under the new rules, users no longer need to upload side photographs of their Car, Jeep, or Van. Only a front picture showing the vehicle’s number plate and FASTag is now required. Additionally, once users enter their Vehicle Number, Chassis Number, or Mobile Number, the system will automatically fetch Registration Certificate (RC) details from the government’s Vahan database.
If a mobile number is linked to multiple vehicles, users can simply select which one they want to complete the KYV for. FASTags issued before the KYV policy will remain active unless specific complaints are received about loose tags or misuse. Issuer banks will also send SMS reminders to users to ensure timely completion of KYV.
In cases where users face difficulty uploading documents, issuing banks have been instructed to proactively contact customers and help them complete the KYV process before any disconnection occurs.
For any issues or queries related to KYV, users can reach out to their issuer bank or call the National Highway Helpline at 1033.
NHAI said this simplification reflects its continued focus on making highway travel smoother and improving the overall experience for FASTag users across the country.
