New Governor of Maharashtra: Acharya Devvrat to be Administered Oath on Monday

Maharashtra has a new Governor. Acharya Devvrat, the current Governor of Gujarat, has been given the additional responsibility as Governor of Maharashtra. He arrived in Mumbai on Sunday to prepare for his official swearing-in ceremony this week.
The change in leadership became necessary after the former Governor of Maharashtra, C.P. Radhakrishnan, resigned from his post on September 11th. Radhakrishnan stepped down after being elected as the 15th Vice President of India.
Governor Devvrat, accompanied by his wife Darshana Devi, made the journey from Ahmedabad to Mumbai aboard the Tejas Express. Upon his arrival at Mumbai Central Station, he was greeted with a formal Ceremonial Guard of Honour by the Railway Police.
The official oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, September 15th, in the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. This event will formally install him into the new role.
