Navi Mumbai International Airport To Commence Commercial Flights from December 25, marking a major addition to India’s aviation network. The new Greenfield airport will start operations on Christmas Day with 23 scheduled daily departures in its first phase.

Key Details of the Launch

During the initial month, the airport will operate between 8 am and 8 pm. It will handle up to 10 flight movements per hour. The first flight to land will be IndiGo 6E460 from Bengaluru at 8 am. IndiGo 6E882 will take off for Hyderabad at 8.40 am, becoming the first outbound service.

Passengers travelling during the launch phase will get connectivity from:
• IndiGo
• Air India Express
• Akasa Air

These airlines will link Mumbai with 16 major domestic destinations. The airport said this staggered start will help ensure smooth operations and better passenger experience.

Plans Ahead

From February 2026, Navi Mumbai International Airport To Commence Commercial Flights round-the-clock, expanding to 34 daily departures. This move is expected to support the rising travel demand in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The airport is currently conducting full-scale ORAT trials with airlines, security teams, and other partners. CISF was formally inducted on October 29, 2025, and has taken charge of key security functions.

Project Background

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport on October 8. The project is being developed by Navi Mumbai International Airport Private Limited (NMIAL), a public-private partnership between Mumbai International Airport Limited (74% stake) under Adani Airports Holdings Limited, and CIDCO (26%).

Officials said that the operational rollout has been designed to prioritise safety, reliability, and comfort, ensuring the airport is ready for steady expansion in the coming months.
