The Maharashtra coast witnessed a historic milestone on March 1, 2026, as Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane flagged off the inaugural voyage of the Mumbai-Vijaydurg Ro-Ro ferry from Bhaucha Dhakka (Ferry Wharf). This high-speed Ro-Pax service, operated by the vessel M2M Princess, is set to transform travel between Mumbai and the Konkan region, reducing the travel time from 12 hours by road to just 6–7 hours by sea.
The launch comes as a major relief for the “Chakaramani” (Konkan natives) and tourists heading home for the Shimga (Holi) festival 2026, offering a seamless alternative to the perennially congested NH66.

The M2M Princess isn’t just a ferry; it is a high-speed vessel capable of cruising at 25 knots. With a total capacity of 656 passengers, the ferry is equipped to carry 50 cars and 30 two-wheelers per trip.
