Mumbai Vijaydurg Ro-Ro ferry

Skip the grueling 12-hour drive on the Mumbai-Goa highway and sail to the heart of Sindhudurg in half the time as the revolutionary Mumbai-Vijaydurg Ro-Ro ferry service officially sets sail.

The Maharashtra coast witnessed a historic milestone on March 1, 2026, as Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane flagged off the inaugural voyage of the Mumbai-Vijaydurg Ro-Ro ferry from Bhaucha Dhakka (Ferry Wharf). This high-speed Ro-Pax service, operated by the vessel M2M Princess, is set to transform travel between Mumbai and the Konkan region, reducing the travel time from 12 hours by road to just 6–7 hours by sea.

The launch comes as a major relief for the “Chakaramani” (Konkan natives) and tourists heading home for the Shimga (Holi) festival 2026, offering a seamless alternative to the perennially congested NH66.

Boosting Konkan Tourism and Infrastructure

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Nitesh Rane emphasized that this project is a “new chapter in Maharashtra’s maritime history.” By connecting Mumbai directly to Vijaydurg, the service provides easy access to the historic Vijaydurg Fort, the pristine beaches of Devgad, and the cultural heart of Sindhudurg.
