According to the “Maharashtra Bike Taxi Rules, 2025,” electric bike taxis will now charge ₹10.27 per kilometre. The first 1.5 km of the ride will have a flat fare of ₹15, after which the fare will be calculated per kilometre at the set rate. This move is to ensure that passengers across the state pay consistent and fair prices when using electric bike taxis.

This is the first time such a fare structure has been officially introduced for electric two-wheelers in the state. The decision was made to standardise fares and avoid confusion or exploitation by different operators. The announcement comes under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and other relevant powers granted to the state government.

The meeting was chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary, Home (Transport), and attended by senior officials from the State Transport Authority, including the Additional Police Director General for traffic and the Transport Commissioner.

The authority also gave provisional licences for 30 days to three major companies, Uber India Systems Pvt. Ltd., Ropen Transportation Services Pvt. Ltd., and Anni Technologies Pvt. Ltd. These licences are for operating in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Once these companies meet all requirements within the next 30 days, they can apply for permanent licences.

From now on, all licensed bike taxi operators must follow this fare structure without exception. The state aims to bring transparency and fairness to electric bike taxi services, especially as these become a more popular mode of transport.
