Mumbai: Oleum Gas Leak Reported at Bhageria Industries in Boisar MIDC; Administration Urges Calm
BOISAR, PALGHAR – An oleum gas leak occurred earlier today at the Bhageria Industries Limited facility located within the Tarapur MIDC area in Boisar. The leak, which originated from a storage tank within the factory premises, has resulted in a white, fog-like smoke spreading through the local atmosphere.
District administration and emergency services were deployed immediately to the site. Officials have confirmed that company representatives and technical teams are working alongside the Palghar disaster management cell to plug the leak and neutralize the spread.
Safety Guidelines Issued for Residents
Superintendent of Police (SP) Yatish Deshmukh has issued an official appeal to the citizens of Boisar and surrounding areas, urging them not to panic. To ensure public safety, the administration has released the following precautionary measures:
- Seal Indoors: Residents are advised to keep all doors and windows of their homes tightly shut.
- Switch Off Ventilation: Temporarily turn off fans, air conditioners, and any other ventilation systems to prevent the gas from entering living spaces.
- Protect Vulnerable Groups: Extra care should be taken for children, senior citizens, and individuals with existing respiratory conditions.
- Use Damp Cloths: If it is absolutely necessary to step outdoors, cover your nose and mouth with a damp cloth or mask.
- Follow Official Alerts: Citizens are requested to stay tuned to official administrative updates and avoid spreading unverified rumors.
“The situation is being brought under control by the relevant emergency agencies,” stated SP Yatish Deshmukh. “We request the public to remain indoors as much as possible until the white haze clears and the area is declared safe.”
