Mumbai Airport Issues Passenger Advisory Amid Heavy Rainfall Forecast
 
                Mumbai, July 21: In light of the ongoing heavy to very heavy rainfall across Mumbai and surrounding regions, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has issued a passenger advisory urging travellers to plan ahead and stay updated on their flight schedules.
The advisory, released early today, requests all air passengers to check their flight status with respective airlines before heading to the airport. “In view of the inclement weather and forecast of heavy to very heavy rains, we request all our passengers to connect with their respective airlines and check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport,” the airport authority said in a public statement.
Passengers are also advised to depart earlier than usual to account for possible traffic disruptions caused by the rain. “At Mumbai Airport, passenger safety is of utmost importance. Thank you for your cooperation as we strive to enable seamless passenger journeys,” the advisory added.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported significant rainfall in several parts of Maharashtra and Goa in the last 24 hours (ending at 8:30 am IST):

- Mhasla (Raigad): 9 cm
- Alibag (Raigad): 9 cm
- Kankavli (Sindhudurg): 8 cm
- Murud (Raigad): 8 cm
- Mapusa (North Goa): 7 cm
- Sanguem (South Goa): 7 cm
- Thane (Tbia IMD): 7 cm
- Shrivardhan (Raigad): 7 cm
- Quepem (South Goa): 6 cm
- Harnai (Ratnagiri): 6 cm
- Sawantwadi (Sindhudurg): 5 cm
- Pernem (North Goa): 5 cm
- Dodamarg (Sindhudurg): 5 cm
- Mormugao (South Goa): 5 cm
- Panjim (North Goa): 5 cm
- Rajapur (Ratnagiri): 5 cm
- Vaibhavwadi (Sindhudurg): 5 cm
Nowcast Warning from IMD
According to the IMD’s latest nowcast, moderate to intense spells of rain are very likely to occur at isolated places in Thane, Raigad, Mumbai, and Ratnagiri districts over the next 3–4 hours. This could potentially cause further delays in travel and temporary waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Traffic Advisory from Mumbai Police
Mumbai Traffic Police have also announced traffic disruptions in several areas due to waterlogging and poor visibility. Citizens are advised to follow official updates on Twitter via @MTPHereToHelp for real-time traffic information and diversion routes.
