Mumbai Airport Conducts Comprehensive Runway Maintenance to Keep Flights Safe in Monsoon

Mumbai, May 9, 2025 — Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has successfully completed its scheduled runway maintenance, enhancing its preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season. The extensive upkeep work focused on restoring both RWY 14/32 and RWY 09/27 to peak operational condition.

The planned maintenance encompassed a wide array of critical tasks, including pavement repairs, electrical system upgrades, rubber removal, runway surface re-marking, and major drain cleaning. These measures are vital to maintaining infrastructure integrity, especially during the demanding monsoon period.

Over 3,000 runway lights underwent thorough inspection within a precisely calibrated six-hour maintenance window. Notably, this comprehensive effort was executed without any disruption to flight operations, maintaining the airport’s reputation for efficiency.

With over 950 flight movements daily, CSMIA continues to underscore its commitment to operational excellence and passenger safety.
