Mumbai, July 15, 2025 – In preparation for the grand arrival of Lord Ganesha on August 27, 2025, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has announced the deployment of 5,000 additional buses to facilitate smooth travel for devotees heading to Konkan for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

Enhanced Transport Services for Ganesh Chaturthi

Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman Pratap Sarnaik revealed the decision during a high-level meeting at the ministry. The meeting was attended by Dr. Madhav Kusekar, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of MSRTC, along with other key department heads.

Sarnaik emphasized that Ganesh Chaturthi holds deep sentimental value for the working-class population of Konkan. He stated, “Lord Ganesha, the working class of Konkan, and MSRTC share an unbreakable bond. Every year, MSRTC operates additional services without profit considerations to ensure devotees can celebrate the festival with ease.”

Booking and Discounts for Passengers

The 5,000 extra buses will be operational from August 23 to September 7, 2025. Passengers can book tickets through:

Special Discounts:

  • Amrut Senior Citizens (80+ years): 100% discount
  • Senior Citizens & Women: 50% discount
  • Group bookings open from July 22, 2025

Focus on Smooth Operations

To ensure hassle-free travel, MSRTC will:

  • Deploy round-the-clock staff at major bus depots and stops.
  • Position vehicle repair squads along Konkan highways.
  • Increase services from Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar depots.

Last year, 4,300 additional buses were deployed, but this year’s surge reflects the growing demand post the successful Ashadhi Ekadashi pilgrimage, where 5,200 extra buses received an overwhelming response.
