Movie Outing Turns Ugly; Techie and Wife Assaulted for Asking Couple to Be Quiet During the Movie
Pune, 7 September 2025: A film outing at a Chinchwad theatre ended in violence when a software engineer and his wife were assaulted for asking another couple to keep quiet during the movie.
The incident took place on the night of 5 September at around 8:30 pm at the INOX theatre in Elpro Mall, Chinchwad. The victim, who works as a software engineer in a private company, was watching a film with his wife and sister. A couple seated behind them started disturbing their experience.
The victim asked the man sitting behind them to stay quiet and avoid revealing details about the film’s story. Later, around 9:45 pm during the interval, the accused allegedly made an insulting comment to the victim’s wife. When the victim turned to confront him, the man grew angry, stood up, grabbed the victim by the collar, and assaulted him by hitting his arm, face, and stomach.
When the victim’s wife tried to step in and stop the fight, both the man and his wife reportedly attacked her as well and abused them.
A case has been registered under sections 117(2), 115(2), 352, and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code. The accused have not been arrested yet, and the investigation is being handled by Chinchwad police.
