More Rain Tomorrow; Orange and Yellow Alerts in Several Districts

Pune, Mumbai and parts of Maharashtra are set to see more rain from tomorrow, with conditions expected to stay wet for the next 3 to 4 days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted an active to vigorous monsoon on September 13 and 14, bringing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds across the state.
Orange alerts have been issued for Raigad, Ratnagiri, the ghats of Pune and Satara for very heavy rain on the 13th and 14th. Sangli, Latur and Dharashiv will also see heavy showers on the 13th. Pune city has been given a yellow alert for the 13th and 14th, while Mumbai is under yellow alert from the 13th to the 15th.
The IMD warned that apart from the districts on orange alert, other parts of the state can expect heavy rainfall and strong winds over the next few days. People are advised to be prepared and exercise caution during this spell.
At the same time, the IMD also mentioned that the southwest monsoon is likely to begin withdrawing from parts of west Rajasthan around September 15, slightly earlier than the usual date of September 17. IMD director general Mrutyunjay Mohapatra explained that an anti-cyclone is developing over Rajasthan, which will reduce moisture and limit rainfall in the region for at least the next five days, making withdrawal possible.
So while parts of the state gear up for more rain, other regions are preparing for the monsoon’s gradual retreat.
