Pune, July 23, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued severe weather warnings across Maharashtra as heavy rainfall continues to lash several districts. A red alert, indicating extremely heavy rainfall, has been declared for the ghat regions of Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, as well as the coastal districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. Residents in these areas are advised to stay vigilant as the intense downpour may lead to flooding, landslides, and disruptions in daily life.

Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and the ghat areas of Nashik, along with Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Nagpur. The orange alert signifies heavy to very heavy rainfall, raising concerns over waterlogging, traffic delays, and potential damage to infrastructure.

Additionally, a yellow alert remains in place for most parts of the state, warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms. The yellow alert suggests moderate rainfall but cautions residents to stay updated on weather developments.

Authorities have urged people to avoid traveling to hilly and flood-prone regions, especially in the red and orange alert zones. Emergency response teams are on standby to handle any incidents arising from the extreme weather conditions.
