Pune, November 23, 2025: A tragic accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway early Sunday morning left two people dead and four injured after a speeding truck lost control and overturned onto an oncoming car. The accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway took place near Kamshet around 4 am, causing major disruption to traffic on the busy corridor.

How the Accident Happened

The truck was headed towards Mumbai when the driver reportedly lost control near the Taje petrol pump at kilometre 68. The vehicle crossed the central divider and entered the opposite lane before crashing into a car travelling from Mumbai to Pune. The impact crushed the front portion of the car, killing two of its occupants on the spot. Four others suffered serious injuries during the accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway and were rushed to Pawana Hospital in Somatane Phata for treatment.

Traffic Impact

The crash caused a traffic halt of nearly 90 minutes, with vehicle queues stretching up to 10 km on the Mumbai-Pune lane. Traffic movement resumed only after both damaged vehicles were moved to the side of the road. Motorists faced long delays due to this accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

Police Investigation Underway

Highway police conducted a panchnama at the spot and have begun further investigation. Initial reports indicate that the crash likely occurred due to the truck driver losing control of the vehicle. Authorities are expected to examine vehicle condition, speed and road surface factors as the inquiry continues.
