Maruti Suzuki Escudo SUV Teased Ahead of September 3 Launch

Maruti Suzuki has released the first teaser of its upcoming midsize SUV, the Escudo, ahead of its official launch on September 3, 2025. The new five-seater will sit between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara in the company’s lineup and will be sold through Maruti’s Arena dealerships.
The teaser highlights the SUV’s sleek styling, with boomerang-shaped 3D LED tail lamps, turn indicators, and a wide tailgate. Design details like a horizontal light bar, integrated spoiler, high-mounted stop lamp, and shark fin antenna add to its sporty look.

Under the hood, the Escudo is expected to borrow the 1.5-litre mild hybrid and 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol engines from the Grand Vitara. A CNG option could also be offered later. Measuring slightly longer than the Grand Vitara, the Escudo is likely to come with a spacious cabin and boot space, making it a practical choice for families. Prices are expected to start around ₹10 lakh and go up to ₹16 lakh (ex-showroom).
The SUV will enter the highly competitive midsize segment, going up against popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Mahindra Scorpio N, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate. Spy shots have already hinted at styling influences from both the Vitara and Grand Vitara.
Inside, the Escudo is set to come loaded with features. A nine-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six airbags, a wireless phone charger, and a semi-digital instrument cluster are expected to be standard. Other highlights may include a flat-bottom steering wheel, automatic climate control, and selectable drive modes.
With its positioning, Maruti Suzuki is targeting both midsize SUV buyers and customers considering premium variants of compact SUVs. The Escudo could become a strong contender in one of India’s most crowded car segments.
